# New page

> How to create a new page on your website

## Create a page

1. Go to **Pages** (Síður) in the menu
2. Click **New page** (Ný síða) at the top right
3. Fill in the form

## Main fields

| Field                 | Description                                |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------ |
| **Title**             | Page name — shown on the site              |
| **Slug**              | URL path (auto-generated from title)       |
| **Template**          | Default, landing, or contact               |
| **Short description** | Brief summary for search                   |
| **Published**         | Check to make the page visible on the site |

## Home page

If the site has no home page, you see **Create home page** (Búa til forsíðu) on the page list. The home page has a special URL and appears at the root of the site.

## After creation

When you click **Save**, the **visual editor** opens automatically. There you add content blocks that make up the page.

  Start with a short title and simple slug — you can change them later under the **General** tab.
