# Navigation builder

> How to customize your website menu

## Open the navigation builder

1. Click **Navigation** (Valmynd) in the left menu
2. Or go to **Settings** → **Navigation**

You see all menu items as they appear at the top of the site.

## Add items

Three ways:

| Button              | What it does                                           |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| **+ Add module**    | Adds a link to an active module (News, Services, etc.) |
| **+ Add page**      | Adds a link to a published page                        |
| **Add custom link** | Adds a link with a manual path                         |

## Edit an item

For each item you can set:

* **Label** in each language
* **Path** — where the link goes
* **Icon** — small icon next to the text
* **Description** — short text (optional)

## Dropdown menu

To create a dropdown:

1. Click the item
2. Click **Add child link** (Bæta við undirhlekk)
3. Fill in child items

Visitors see the submenu when they hover over the item.

## Reorder items

Drag items up and down to change their order in the menu.

## Save and reset

* **Save menu** (Vista valmynd) — apply changes on the site
* **Reset to default menu** (Endursetja í sjálfgefna valmynd) — removes custom menu and uses defaults

  Reset deletes your custom menu. You cannot undo it — note down your structure first if you want to keep it.

  Start with a simple menu of 4–6 items. You can always add more later.
